I have been senior-pastor here for 17 years, but have served this congregation full time for 29 years, total.
Jesus changed my life at SHSU when I was 20. Seeing the dramatic change in my life, my 3 siblings and both parents accepted Christ.
Jesus is my reason for living and the best thing that ever happened to me and my family! I can only hope that everyone finds the joy and fulfillment that I have in Jesus Christ. We welcome you to our church!
Rev. Stephen Akin-Olatunde is a Holy Ghost-filled, anointed servant of God. He was divinely called into the ministry in the year 2008 and has since been a minister of the glorious gospel of Jesus Christ.
Rev. Stephen Akin-Olatunde is a man driven by passion to see the kingdom of God established in the lives of the people and on earth. He has a great burden in his heart for the less privileged and desires to help people fulfill their God-given purpose and vision in life. He is sincere, humble, teachable and God-fearing.
He is married to his lovely wife, Abisayo, and blessed with three great kids.

Joel Gaston was born and raised in Huntsville. First Assembly of God has always been his home church and he is dedicated to serving the community around him through leading worship and Vertical Youth Group.
Joel married his lovely wife, Autumn, in 2015 and they have one child.
WE BELIEVE...
- We believe the Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative written Word of God.
- We believe there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
- We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule a thousand years.
- We believe in the blessed hope – the rapture of the Church at Christ’s coming.
- We believe the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ.
- We believe regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential for personal salvation.
- We believe in water baptism by immersion.
- We believe the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer.
- We believe the baptism in the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it.
- We believe in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life.
- We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation.
